Don’t ever get behind! I have forgotten the stress created when you get behind in a class. It’s similar to being behind at work, but not quite. At work, I can literally go off site for a day or two, during business hours, and burn through whatever work I have. Yes, you get an unhealthy dose of cortisol, but you can carve out time to get it done. I can also, go to my boss and tell him what I’m doing and he actually appreciates my prioritization skills and work ethic.
Getting behind at school, creates a completely different experience. It’s really like missing the bus, you get left behind. Now that’s not to say that the driver/professor won’t come back and get you, they will, however it takes more effort for everyone, and creates an epic, dump-truck load of cortisol. Stress is real. The other surprising thing about this anomaly is that I put much more mental and emotional energy on school than I do work. I rarely stop thinking about it. I love it. It is absolutely the fun part of my daily life. I love applying what I learn at work. That’s the sweet spot.
This Coronavirus thing has thrown a real wrench in life. I have to buckle down and get caught up. The sad part is that I am really enjoying learning how to program in R and by rushing to catch up I am cutting myself short. I guess I have to do what needs to be done.
